Mine came off warranty in mid January of this year. Before it went off, I took it and had dealer complete a full 40k miles major service. Everything checked out fine, replaced some minor things. three weeks later, my airbag lights came on, and had to replace the seatbelt buckle wiring. Cost was about $800, but dealer took off 50% because I have bought several cars in the past and have them all serviced, plus the fact that warranty just expired. Then a couple of weeks back my diverter valve needed replacement, but I don't believe that would have been covered under warranty.
I don't think there is anyting in particular other than a major service to be performed.
I am thinking about extended warranty, but have not really looked into the pricing. I have yet to decide whether to keep car or go ahead with the 997tt. Although performance numbers seem to be much better than 996 I am not very impresed with the overall design, and may wait for the 998.
Good luck.
No warranty is like performing without a net.
