Japanese Ferrari - 2005 NSX
      #70919 - 08/23/03 10:59 PM

AN (Automobile News edition 8/18/03) is reporting the following next-gen NSX news:

The NSX will be restyled and re-engineered for the 2005 model year (OCT-NOV 2004 intro). The NSX likely will receive a larger displacement engine, lighter chassis components and possibly aluminum body panels. A hybrid version - as hinted in the 2001 Dual Note concept car - has been shelved.

This has to be good news for NSX enthusiasts world-wide who have waited very patiently for an engine upgrade for almost 10 years. The current NSX has the looks, handling, mid-engine balance, exclusivity and price tag to compete with Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche. It only needs an engine upgrade and some re-freshed styling (ala 993-996) to be competitive once again. This 2005 NSX can challenge the Gallardo, next Modena, 997, C6 if it places the right powerplant in the middle chassis. More news to be available at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show 9/11-21/03.

Concept 2005 NSX Pics? [Re: 03 C4S]
      #77072 - 10/16/03 07:31 PM

Honda will show a concept sports car called HSC at the upcoming Tokyo Show in late OCT. It may be the basis for the next NSX. Its only a concept. The pics are a few days old from TOV (Temple Of VTEC). A good side-by-side comparison among the HSC, current NSX, Enzo, Gallardo and Modena is shown.

AutoExpress (UK) is reporting that the next NSX... [Re: Gint (CT)]
      #80110 - 11/24/03 05:17 PM

to feature 3.6L V6 450hp. If true (???), that engine and some Italian flair in the design should make the NSX competitive once again.

AE UK article:

The ultimate Honda is coming to the UK - and the first customer is likely to be one of Britain's best known racing drivers. The flagship NSX Type R, seen here on British soil for the first time, has been shipped over for homologation testing so that Honda's F1 star Jenson Button can drive it on UK roads.

Although the car's 276bhp output is unchanged, carbon fibre bodywork, a revised engine and hardened suspension make the Type R a genuine rival to Ferrari's 360 Challenge Stradale. No official announcement has been made, but the green light for the six UK dealers authorised to sell NSXs is expected soon.

Several salesmen are rumoured to be taking deposits for the Type R already, even though there will be no deliveries before next spring. A price premium of around £5,000 is expected over the standard NSX, lifting the cost to £65,000. But despite the early interest, Honda does not expect to sell many more than 10 models a year here.

Meanwhile, sources in Japan have revealed that the next-generation NSX, which is due for launch in late 2005, will be powered by a mighty 3.6-litre 450bhp version of the current model's V6 powerplant.
