Ever seen a RED Carrera GT?
      #41159 - 03/07/03 05:27 PM Attachment (72 downloads)

I did today.. I saw it, I heard it, I touched it, I drooled on it

This was definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time . After the Geneva Show earlier in the week, I headed up to Stuttgart for what’s become now a fairly regular pilgrimage: Museum, Tour, etc. Over at one of the buildings, all the sudden everyone (I was with a large group from a French/Swiss Porsche Club) turns when we hear a VERY LOUD, great sounding car coming up: A Guards Red CGT. It even drew a lot of PAG employees out to look as they had apparently not even seen a running, undisguised CGT before.

I can’t begin to tell you how really, really RIGHT they got the exhaust on this thing. It has me thinking about where to find $400k . I was impressed by the “study” car; I was impressed by the car on the stand in Geneva; but this simply blew me away.

Once again, here’s a link to a bunch of photos of my day in a Yahoo gallery.

Gallery link:
A Day In Zuffenhausen

One tidbit for GT3 waiters: I actually saw (but could not photograph) a US-spec GT3 that was fresh off the production line. Two good-news items: It looks “euro” low (like the GT2 it doesn’t seem jacked up for the US), and they are using the new painted rear bumperettes like the other “narrow-body” 911’s (but unlike the ugly black ones on Turbos, etc.).

Let me know if you have questions on any of the photos.

The US GT2 isnt jacked up for the US, car is sent over at a factory setting which is far from jacked up, not possible to fit my finger between the tires and fender and have measued them both (GT2 and turbo) in the garage, the GT2 is 2 inches lower than the turbo as stock specs. JAS

Next time let me know when you are around - you were too early [Re: Geoff H.]

tuesday I will be at the factory and later have a meeting with Roland Kussmaul. Thursday I am picking up my cup car in Weissach again.

I think if I beg enough Roland will take me for a spin on the track at Weissach in the GT

Well Geoff you are too tall for the GT anyway

I think I worded my message badly..

I agree the US GT2 is NOT "jacked up".
I suspect we all hoped/thought the US version of the new GT3 would also not be "jacked up".
I was merely trying to confirm that, based on what I saw Friday, we (the US) will get a "low" GT3 .

Unfortunately Yahoo Photos seems to be down . I guess keep trying.. If it stays down for more than a few hours, I will try to find another home for the photos.

The link and gallery was definitely working for awhile after I posted them -- and I haven't done anything "behind the scenes".

I still don't like Yahoo much and would love suggestions on better photo sites . Too many of them seem to have some combination of problems:
-- unreliability
-- companies with bad/no business models that go out of business quickly
-- bad upload/mgmt tools
-- don't allow direct "referencing" of photos to other sites (like this one).

Chris my friend: Unfortunately our schedules did not coincide this time -- I'm headed home today (Saturday). I'm sure that you/Billster/Howard will have great fun next week.. and the Weissach trip sounds extra-nice .

Take Care.

cjv, have you personally compared the two of them? because I have and the difference between the two is a solid 2 inches. JAS
