We are pleased to announce in collaboration with G-Rides a group buy offer for their custom V-1 bracket for 997.
This custom made, unique product allows installation of V-1 to the lower point of your Auto Dimming Mirror (required).
These units are made in California from Aluminum, Anodized Black and include Mounting Hardware. This G Bracket combined with Hardwiring of your Valentine One makes for a clean and functional installation of your Valentine One.
Installation of The G Bracket requires the 2-piece plastic cover, which covers the steel mirror post, be removed (they are snapped together and not too difficult to pry apart) and those plastic covers need to be drilled, 1-hole per side. The Steel Housing which those plastic pieces cover, has a pocket on each side, which the Set-Screws from the G Bracket insert into giving a nice secure mount with very little movement and a solid mount. No more suction cups letting go!





We will collect emails from those interested, and in about 2 weeks we will contact each person directly with the group buy pricing and order information.
In addition, G-Rides has also created a wiring harness assembly to ease the wiring of your V-1 and we will offer that product as well in combination with the G Bracket.
Of course the group buy will allow you to purchase the product(s) at a discount, and we will provide all pricing details prior to your ordering. There is NO obligation to get 'on the list'...but timing is critical.
The G Bracket does NOT apply to non auto dimming mirrors. Only 997 (.1 and .2, all variants) with auto dimming mirrors are applicable at this time.

It looks like the mount would place the V1 very near the sight line of non-vertically challenged drivers...blocking part of their view.

Yes, mounting the V1 below the mirror using the suction cup mount produces the same situation. That's why I avoid it. Mounting the detector as high or as low as possible generally minimizes sight line blockage. For driver's with a high eye level driving position, mounting the V1 as low as possible on the windshield places the detector out of the driver's sight lines of the road/road environment while maximizing the detector's ability to detect laser without reducing it's ability to detect radar. For driver's with a low eye level driving position, mounting the V1 as high as possible on the windshield places the detector away from the driver's sight lines to the road/road environment (except for situations where there is a declining road situation).
In the end, it all depends on how high the driver sits. If a driver sits low enough such that the rear view mirror does not block any view of the road/road environment ahead and to the left and right (within the limits of the windshield), then the mirror presents no issue. However, placing the V1 below the mirror only increases the vertical height of the potential sight line blockage area for all but the lowest eye level drivers.
I believe the best situation is when a driver has no blockage of the road/road environment within the limits of the windshield area. The rear view mirror is a fixed blockage for the majority of drivers. But avoiding additional blockage IS something a driver can control.
I have a higher than average eye level in the driving position, and the rear view mirror is always something I have to work around. I place my V1 as low as possible on the windshield where it is within the front hood area that I see from my driving position. It does not reduce my sight lines of the road/road environment one bit.
