For Sandee

So here it is, the new GTI. I found it very interesting that there are really a lot of technology sharing between the Golf and the 911. The multi-media/navigation system is essentially the same one on the 911 (or Panamera since it has 4 doors!). the GTI had a DSG, which has a sport mode that does the same as the 911 (faster throttle response, holds the gears longer, "blips" on down shifts, etc.), it has launch control, etc, etc.

And I can buy 4 of them for the price of one 911!

Here is the stable:

Cool! We had a Mazda 3 5-door hatch in the fleet for a few years (one of the kids), very similar styling.

How long will the state let you ride with that euro rear plate?

Drive safe.

Nice! Gotta love that German engineering; I'm feeling that your GTI is closer to the P-car ethos than P-car is....

Until I get the real plates. Here in California, when you buy a car, you don't get a temp plate, just a little piece of paper from the registration form that gets taped to the front windshield, that is in effect the "plate". I had this euro plate laying around from another car, and thought that it would be fun to put it on. The wife thinks it is a Poser plate, and she is probably right, but I think it makes the car look interesting.

Surprisingly, there are next to no 2010 GTIs on the road out here, in fact I see more GT2s and lotuses then GTIs.

Great car. I drove the Scirocco a few months back and loved it.

In 1992 I bought a Corrado VR6 and drove it till 1998 when I sold it to my cousin who trucked it back to NY where he still has it. It's 18 years old now and he says he still loves driving it. I loved that car. The Scirocco I drove reminded me of it. They're great products.

I liked that VR6 Corrado too (good friend bought one new) - if only it was RWD, it would've been a classic.

I read that the original Scirocco was about 1800 pounds. Those days are long, long gone.

VERY nice - I didn't realize you were getting the 4 door. I like those wheels better than the ones we got. Let's see some interior shots of the Jackie Cloth interior.

BTW, crazy time in SFO and SJC. Way busy with work - but made time to have a pix snapped in front of eBay! Sorry I missed my westcoast friends ... may be out again in May (Google IO).

Do you drive the car with the seats tilted so far back, as there are in the photo? Gangsta style!

He could get a pair of these (assuming he doesn't already have a pair) and disappear into the seat while driving...

Come to think about it, I wonder if the driver's lower half disappears, or if the seat disappears?

I am looking for a skirt (not for me but for the wife) in material to match the seats. I think I need to go to a school uniform place. Add to that knee socks and a white shirt, and I think I would have the ideal eye-candy accessory to go cruising. And while the seats were reclined for photographic effect, I might start driving it that way!
